KAHUNA EcoLodge
your little peace haven in a blooming garden
3 minute walk to the village and... this beach !

Lodge Huahine bungalow

Ideally located at the entrance of Fare, in a quiet neighborhood set back from the road, your bungalow is welcoming, comfortable, and convenient (and even eco-friendly).

It was created to host my friends (and their friends) in the best conditions, the place I'd like to find if I was still a tourist here. And because I'm always happy to meet new faces and share, it's a pleasure to have other visitors stay here as well.

Everything at KAHUNA EcoLodge was thought for you to have a great stay here on our amazing little island !

Huahine bungalow location

_ Location _

A short walk along the road or the beach will get you to ... everything !

Rentals (car, scooter, bicycle, E-bike, boat, SUP), restaurants and "roulottes" (foodtrucks), happy hour at the Yacht club, excursions, boutiques, banks, pharmacy, post office, supermarket and the early morning fresh produce and catch of the day market on the roadside... a great place to experience local island life.

Fabulous BaliHai beach and its irresistible lagoon also await, with great views of THE wave and sunset over the neighboring islands of Raiatea, Tahaa and Bora Bora.

_ Lodging _

ideal for a COUPLE or SINGLEor TWO SINGLES ... a rare find in Polynesia:-)

Your bungalow (30m2 studio) comes with a double bed and a couch-bed (sleeps one, good mattress, 1x2m), an equipped kitchen with large fridge and gas stove, local style covered outdoor bathroom with hot water (of course!), dry loo or classic toilet - your choice. Click on the slide-show below to see...

Here in the islands we live outside! You'll enjoy your spacious sheltered private terrace with a comfortable dining area and plenty of room for exercising or chilling in the shade with a nice cool drink after a hot day on the beach or exploring the island.

There are two adjacent houses on the property: I live in one, and host in the other. We share the garden with its flowers, fruit, herbs and occasional veggies.

_ EcoLodge ? _

Off-grid for power (solar makes so much sense in Tahiti!), we use the drinking water network and also collected rainwater. I do my best for trash management on site (compost, dogs, cat, chickens, fire, and a lot of the plastic and glass has been buried in garden walls) and use natural cleaning products as much as possible - without compromising hygiene or comfort.

Renovating the houses with local manpower and means was quite an adventure, and done in the same spirit with upcycling, valorizing the existing and findings in nature playing a major role + a bit of imagination and humor, and a whole lot of sweat :-)

Nothing major, just doing our part in small concrete actions, very far from the eco-polical rhetoric... simply out of respect for this beautiful planet on which we are so fortunate to live - and travel - and the precious nature surrounding us.

_ Safety _

The property is entirely fenced, and my two dogs Simba and Zelda ensure our peace: they're really friendly with wanted visitors but also good guards. Our cat Tiger has us mouse-free, and the few wild chickens roaming around here clear the garden of little bugs.

_ From the garden _

Passion fruit, mango, papaya, pineapple, avocado, string beans, sweet potato and their spinach, tomate, greens, sugar cane, aromatic herbs (basil, lemongrass, pepper, ...), peppermint for your mojitos, some medicinal plants and the flowers of course that are so essential to Polynesian life. All depending on season and harvest of course. Sometimes frsh eggs when the chicken are in the mood. I'm always happy to share: if you're interested I'll give you a garden tour and introduction to our local plants.
